Visit the heart of Edinburgh.
The Royal Mile is the name given to a number of different streets that form the main thoroughfare in the Old Town in Edinburgh. Stretching from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace, the Royal Mile makes up the heart of the city. It's well worth wandering through the labyrinthine network of narrow, cobbled streets and alleyways of this area, which is also peppered with souvenir shops, lively dining and drinking spots and many landmarks such as the Scottish Parliament and the ornate 12th century St Giles' Cathedral.
There are also many medieval dwellings that still remain underneath the Royal Mile, particularly Mary Kings Close, and if you don’t mind getting goose bumps, a guided “ghost tour” is a fantastic way to explore this hidden side and hear its fascinating stories.View Edinburgh & Area
