The Commando Memorial is a large bronze sculpture just outside the small village of Spean Bridge. One of Britain’s most popular monuments, it was unveiled on 27th September 1952 to honour the original British Commando Forces raised during World War II.
The monument is a 17-foot tall (5 m) bronze cast of three commandos standing atop a stone plinth. The commandos depicted overlook the training areas of the Commando Training Depot established in 1942 at Achnacarry Castle.
