Glenfinnan is a village in the Scottish Highlands with a long and interesting history, notably for being the site of the Jacobite rising of 1745. There, the visitors will find a 59-foot tall (18 m) monument at the head of Loch Shiel commemorating this event. Another prominent feature of the village is the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which was constructed in 1897-1898 and rises high above the valley.
The viaduct, and the Jacobite Steam Train that services Glenfinnan village, are featured in several of the popular Harry Potter films as the Hogwarts Express and the route it takes to the school.
