In the region of the Scottish Borders, near Galashiels, you’ll find the striking and historic Abbotsford House. It was once home to Sir Walter Scott, the famous 19th-century Scottish novelist and poet.
The rooms you can explore today have been left almost untouched since the writer’s death in 1832. Wander through the study where Sir Walter Scott wrote the books that would shape the world of literature.
Then peer into the armoury, which Scott liked to call his ‘boudoir’. The house is set on the banks of the River Tweed, with inspiring views that drew Scott to the location.
You can stroll through colourful and immaculate gardens that were imaginatively designed by Scott himself. You’ll be so inspired by the surroundings you might want to do some writing of your own!
