Experience Scotland your way

We have tours for all varieties of travel styles and interests. See our options for exploring Scotland below.

Spending 5 days in Scotland: What to do

Edinburgh makes a wonderful starting point for a 5-day trip to Scotland. You can easily spend at least a day in Edinburgh strolling the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace or exploring the elegant New Town neighbourhood. If you wish to spend all of your 5 days in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, there are also several day tour options, for example a day trip to the famous university city of St Andrews.

To experience the best of Scotland in 5 days we recommend going on a short trip into the majestic Scottish Highlands to see the postcard-perfect landscapes. On a 5-day Scotland tour from Edinburgh you can can travel into the Highlands, spending a couple nights in the Fort Augustus or Fort William areas, and visit popular attractions like the legendary Loch Ness, the beautiful shores of Loch Lomond, the prehistoric Clava Cairns, the stunning Glen Coe area, the medieval Doune Castle and the Glenfinnan Viaduct of Harry Potter fame.

To see all these highlights at your own pace, a 5-day driving tour of Scotland is recommended. With a Scotland road trip itinerary for 5 days arranged by Nordic Visitor you can visit the places that interest you most, with your very own detailed itinerary, hand-marked map of Scotland and Scotland travel guide that we provide to you before your trip. Furthermore, you can enjoy a stress-free time in Scotland in 5 days by car knowing that all of your accommodations have been sorted you by our local travel experts.

Spending 5 days in Scotland with no car? You can have Nordic Visitor create a tailor-made private tour of Scotland for you, so you can experience the highlights of the Highlands with an experienced local driver-guide.

Customise your 5-day tour of Scotland

With 5 days in Scotland, where to go can feel like a challenge. That’s why it’s good to have the Edinburgh-based staff of Nordic Visitor to guide your trip planning and create a custom 5-day Scotland tour for you. All of our itineraries can be tailored with extra nights, day tours and more, and you’ll have your own dedicated travel consultant at Nordic Visitor to advise you on tour options and make all local travel arrangements for you. If you want to start your 5-day tour of scotland from Glasgow, we can also modify your itinerary accordingly.

Want to travel to the Isle of Skye? Then we recommend staying longer than 5 days in Scotland to comfortably travel to this popular destination along with other top Highland attractions such as Eilean Donan Castle, Cairngorms National Park and Dunvegan Castle.

I cannot say enough good things about Nordic Visitor

I cannot say enough good things about Nordic Visitor. Information given was thorough, accommodations were very comfortable (very friendly hosts) and tourist sights suggestions were incredibly helpful. Agne did a wonderful job! I highly would recommend her to anyone. If anyone has any doubts about booking with Nordic Visitor I would simply suggest reading the reviews...You'll find that the positive reviews are accurate!

Had the best time and experience

We had the best time and experience, the self-drive tour was easy to follow and gave us enough structure to see a lot in a small amount of time but still gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace. The restaurant recommendations were really helpful and the places we stayed were so memorable and inviting. It was also great that we had the flexibility to add another day to Edinburgh at the beginning of the trip to explore. I'll highly recommend the tour agency.

North Coast 500 & Orkney, June 2018

Journey was terrific and easy to follow

Agne was extremely helpful and informative when organising the holiday. All travel documents were emailed to us before we left Australia and hard copies were also waiting for us at our first accommodation in Edinburgh. The fold-out map that had been highlighted with route of the journey was terrific and easy to follow.

Thank you again for great memories

We just returned last night from our trip to Scotland and I wanted to let you know what a great trip we had with Nordic Visitor. You were wonderful setting up our requests and I cannot thank you enough for switching our tour dates when we were unable to go as originally planned in May. The hotels and food were brilliant. Brian was magnificent. We could not ask for more of a guide. Even the special trip to see Highland coos. This was our second Nordic Visitor trip and we are now looking into our 3rd for next year. Thank you again for great memories. I am glad we were able to meet you on our first night.

More customizable & more fun adventure

We are thankful we went with Nordic Visitor for our tour of Scotland. We were at each location one hour before all of the tour buses because we had our own car and could get around quicker. More customizable and a more fun adventure.

Will for sure continue to use Nordic Visitor

This is our second time using Nordic Visitor and both times have been absolutely wonderful! The stress of having to book accommodations and arrange car rental and travel from the airport is completely eliminated by utilizing this travel resource. We will for sure continue to use Nordic Visitor and have shared your information and website with many friends and even strangers.

Whole experience was a pleasure

I was very impressed with the ease of use and professionalism of Nordic Visitor right from the initial website browsing through online booking, tour confirmation, payment and final documentation. Service from our Travel Consultant (Sarah) was top class and personalized. The guidance given on sites of interest was well researched and fully comprehensive. The whole experience was a pleasure. Well done.

"Above and beyond" service

"Very Good" comes short of describing my trip! This was probably my top, most favorite trip every and I travel a lot. The B&Bs and hotels were excellent and I chose the standard. My itinerary was well planned making it so easy to just enjoy everything. The detailed guide book also was a great help in offering suggestions of thing not to miss. My deepest appreciation to Annie not only for planning this outstanding trip, but also her "above and beyond" service dealing with my luggage which the airline had lost.
