Experience Scotland your way

We have tours for all varieties of travel styles and interests. See our options for exploring Scotland below.

What to see in Scotland in 4 days

Edinburgh makes a wonderful destination for a 4-day trip to Scotland. The city hosts numerous events each year, from the popular Christmas Market in December to the month-long Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. You can easily spend a day in Edinburgh, or more, strolling the cobbled streets of the Royal Mile between Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace or exploring the elegant New Town neighbourhood. If you wish to spend all three nights at an accommodation in Edinburgh, there are also several day tour options, for example a day trip to the famous university city of St Andrews.

Edinburgh is perfect for short breaks, but this doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a small adventure into the majestic Scottish Highlands to see the postcard-perfect landscapes. On a 4-day Scotland tour from Edinburgh you can can spend a night in the Fort Augustus or Fort William area and visit top Highland attractions like the legendary shores of Loch Ness, Cairngorms National Park, the prehistoric Clava Cairns, the gorgeous Glen Coe area and the medieval Doune Castle. A great way to experience the best of Scotland in 4 days is to travel on a privately guided tour, with your own professional driver-guide showing you around the top sights and hidden gems of the Highlands.

Customise your 4-day tour of Scotland

With the variety of things to see and do on a 4-day Scotland tour, it’s good to have the Edinburgh-based staff of Nordic Visitor to guide your trip planning and create a custom tour of Scotland for you. All of our itineraries can be tailored with extra nights, alternative departures or arrivals in Glasgow and more, and you’ll have your own dedicated travel consultant at Nordic Visitor to advise you on itinerary options and make all local travel arrangements for you.

If you want to spend 4 days in Scotland in the Highlands by car, we highly recommend extending your tour to at least 6 days so that you have ample time for a 4-day Scotland road trip with overnights in Edinburgh before and after your scenic drive. On a Scotland tour lasting around a week it’s possible to travel to the Isle of Skye and visit other top Highland attractions such as Eilean Donan Castle, Loch Lomond, Glenfinnan Viaduct, Dunvegan Castle and other marvels.

A positive experience, beginning to end!

This tour was a positive experience for us, beginning to end. The planning by Nordic Visitor was complete, thoughtful, and worked flawlessly. Scotland was stunning and most interesting - we just wish we had more time. To Nordic Visitor: Great Job! We'll be back!

Everything ran as smoothly as clockwork!

My husband and I wanted to hire a car and travel extensively throughout northern Scotland which included the Orkney Islands, and the other beautiful islands in far northern Scotland. From the day we contacted Agne Dobrovolskyte at Nordic Visitor, everything ran as smoothly as clockwork! Agne knew exactly what we wanted;  all the Bed & Breakfast places she booked on our behalf right throughout Scotland were absolutely perfect, centrally located near all facilities, managed by wonderful, friendly hosts and included delicious, plentiful breakfasts. The car Agne booked for us was reliable and the perfect (compact) size to negotiate the narrow, single lane roads you frequently experience in northern Scotland (especially on the northern Scottish islands). Agne gave us the benefit of her experience of Scotland with wonderful suggestions on what to see and do - suggestions and advice that we were glad we followed. Everything Agne did and organised, made our road trip throughout the beautiful country of Scotland a wonderful and memorable experience. For anyone wanting to deal with a high-achieving travel company that is absolutely professional and efficient, we highly recommend Nordic Visitor and, in particular, Agne Dobrovolskyte, who proved to be a very competent, friendly and knowledgeable travel agent. Thank you, Agne!"

Nothing but great words to say about Nordic Visitor!

We were thrilled with all of our accommodations. All hosts/hostesses were very friendly and we felt very welcomed. The rental car service was also very good and thorough. And we felt as though everyone had a good working relationship as the businesses had nothing but great words to say about Nordic Visitor so we felt good that everyone was working together to make our visit a great one!

Grand Tour of Scotland, August 2019

Excellent information and documents!

Having used another tour company for Ireland and England just before this section of our trip I can say with one hundred percent truth that your information and documents were excellent! When we saw a paper map was included and daily ideas for the itinerary we were so happy. We didn't need electricity or wifi, we could just look at the map! An overall view like that was so much easier to use.

Explore family ancestry

We went to explore family ancestry, I inquired with several different companies and Sarah was the only one to reply with information, and stops in the itinerary on the Clan Comyns. She did her homework to plan our trip.

Scottish Highlands & West Coast, October 2019

Wonderful accommodations!

The accommodations mapped out for us were wonderful. All were 3star or higher rated B&Bs and they were all centrally located to attractions and historic landmarks we wanted to see. That fact alone made it really easy for us to walk or drive A short distance to sites or activities we were interested in doing on the trip, which made the experience very enjoyable. Both taxi services hired to pick us up and drop us off from the airport we're amazing as well. The taxi driver picking us up was especially helpful and even gave us a brief driving tour of Edinburgh the first day we arrived.

Worry-free travel experience!

Our agent, Agne, did a wonderful job dealing with us. All questions were answered and her trip planning resulted in one of our most enjoyable and worry free travel experiences.

The Castle Trail & Scottish Highlands, June 2019

Professional, organised and helpful!

Our entire trip included two weeks in Scotland and two weeks in Europe. During our travels we raved about Nordic Visitor and how professional, organised and helpful you are. It was so well organised and every little detail was covered so we could relax and enjoy our holiday without any concerns. I am really really impressed and would recommend your company (and Annie) without hesitation!
