Experience Scotland your way

We have tours for all varieties of travel styles and interests. See our options for exploring Scotland below.

What to see in Scotland in 7 days

In a 7-day tour of Scotland you can experience both the historic charms of Edinburgh, the capital city, and the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands. For the best way to travel around Scotland in 7 days, we recommend an itinerary that starts and ends in Edinburgh and includes overnights in Highland locations such as Inverness, Fort William and the Loch Lomond area. On such a route you can experience top attractions including Loch Ness, the picturesque valley of Glen Coe, ancient standing stones, Eilean Donan Castle, the Glenfinnan Viaduct (the “Harry Potter Bridge”) and some filming locations from the popular Outlander TV series.

Another possibility is to spend a night in the Fife area, nearby the historic golf and university city of St Andrews, in addition to a drive through the Highlands. On a 7-day itinerary of Scotland it’s also possible to spend a night on the Isle of Skye, though we highly recommend a giving yourself at least 8 days to take in all the wondrous highlights both on the island itself and on the drive there. All of Nordic Visitor’s Scotland tour packages can be tailored by our local experts with extra nights at select locations, alternative arrivals or departures from Glasgow, day tours in Edinburgh and more.

Take a 7-day road trip in Scotland

Want to do the driving in Scotland and explore at your own pace? A 7-day driving tour of Scotland is the way to go if you want to take your time at popular photography sites or enjoy a bit of hiking on your route. With 7 days in Scotland by car, you’ll have the flexibility to enjoy Scotland’s top attractions on your own terms -- even in wintertime.

Nordic Visitor’s self-drive tour packages include a rental car of your choice and everything else you need for the best Scotland road trip experience. Take comfort in the fact that all accommodations on your 7-day self-drive tour in Scotland have been pre-arranged by your dedicated Nordic Visitor travel consultant in Edinburgh. And know exactly where you’re driving each day — and which optional attractions you can visit — with a personalised itinerary and Scotland travel guide booklet. We’ll also provide you with a hand-marked map of Scotland, a GPS navigation system and our own 24/7 helpline.

See Scotland in 7 days on a guided tour

Don’t want to do the driving on your 7-day tour of Scotland? Nordic Visitor’s privately-guided tours offer the flexibility of a self-drive tour but with the ease of riding in a premium 4x4 vehicle driven by a professional local guide. Private tours are a great option for those who are tracing Scottish roots, have a specific interest in Scotland’s historical sites or want an Outlander-themed trip, for example. What’s more, all guided tours operated by Nordic Visitor include quality accommodations and opportunities to taste Scotch whisky at renowned distilleries.

If you’re flexible with your length of stay in Scotland, you might also consider a guided small group tour by Nordic Visitor. Unlike a standard bus tour, our tour groups are limited to 16 travellers so that you can enjoy more personal interactions with your local driver-guide and fellow adventurers while travelling in a comfy mini-coach. Extra nights in Edinburgh can be added to these tours to give you extra time for exploring the city’s landmarks, like The Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle, on your own.

A positive experience, beginning to end!

This tour was a positive experience for us, beginning to end. The planning by Nordic Visitor was complete, thoughtful, and worked flawlessly. Scotland was stunning and most interesting - we just wish we had more time. To Nordic Visitor: Great Job! We'll be back!

Grand Tour of Scotland, June 2019

Everything ran as smoothly as clockwork!

My husband and I wanted to hire a car and travel extensively throughout northern Scotland which included the Orkney Islands, and the other beautiful islands in far northern Scotland. From the day we contacted Agne Dobrovolskyte at Nordic Visitor, everything ran as smoothly as clockwork! Agne knew exactly what we wanted;  all the Bed & Breakfast places she booked on our behalf right throughout Scotland were absolutely perfect, centrally located near all facilities, managed by wonderful, friendly hosts and included delicious, plentiful breakfasts. The car Agne booked for us was reliable and the perfect (compact) size to negotiate the narrow, single lane roads you frequently experience in northern Scotland (especially on the northern Scottish islands). Agne gave us the benefit of her experience of Scotland with wonderful suggestions on what to see and do - suggestions and advice that we were glad we followed. Everything Agne did and organised, made our road trip throughout the beautiful country of Scotland a wonderful and memorable experience. For anyone wanting to deal with a high-achieving travel company that is absolutely professional and efficient, we highly recommend Nordic Visitor and, in particular, Agne Dobrovolskyte, who proved to be a very competent, friendly and knowledgeable travel agent. Thank you, Agne!"

Nothing but great words to say about Nordic Visitor!

We were thrilled with all of our accommodations. All hosts/hostesses were very friendly and we felt very welcomed. The rental car service was also very good and thorough. And we felt as though everyone had a good working relationship as the businesses had nothing but great words to say about Nordic Visitor so we felt good that everyone was working together to make our visit a great one!

Grand Tour of Scotland, August 2019

Excellent information and documents!

Having used another tour company for Ireland and England just before this section of our trip I can say with one hundred percent truth that your information and documents were excellent! When we saw a paper map was included and daily ideas for the itinerary we were so happy. We didn't need electricity or wifi, we could just look at the map! An overall view like that was so much easier to use.

Express Scotland, May 2019

Explore family ancestry

We went to explore family ancestry, I inquired with several different companies and Sarah was the only one to reply with information, and stops in the itinerary on the Clan Comyns. She did her homework to plan our trip.

Kim Walz

Scottish Highlands & West Coast, October 2019

Wonderful accommodations!

The accommodations mapped out for us were wonderful. All were 3star or higher rated B&Bs and they were all centrally located to attractions and historic landmarks we wanted to see. That fact alone made it really easy for us to walk or drive A short distance to sites or activities we were interested in doing on the trip, which made the experience very enjoyable. Both taxi services hired to pick us up and drop us off from the airport we're amazing as well. The taxi driver picking us up was especially helpful and even gave us a brief driving tour of Edinburgh the first day we arrived.

Scottish Highlands, May 2019

Worry-free travel experience!

Our agent, Agne, did a wonderful job dealing with us. All questions were answered and her trip planning resulted in one of our most enjoyable and worry free travel experiences.

Kirsty Purdy

The Castle Trail & Scottish Highlands, June 2019

Professional, organised and helpful!

Our entire trip included two weeks in Scotland and two weeks in Europe. During our travels we raved about Nordic Visitor and how professional, organised and helpful you are. It was so well organised and every little detail was covered so we could relax and enjoy our holiday without any concerns. I am really really impressed and would recommend your company (and Annie) without hesitation!
