WHEN & HOW TO VISIT SCOTLAND FROM INDIA

Nordic Visitor’s self-drive tours in summer (April - October) are the best options for UK and Scotland vacations from India that are longer than 8 - 10 days, or for travellers who want more flexibility for hiking, sightseeing and photography. Shorter road trips are also available in wintertime. And thankfully for visitors from India, motorists in Scotland also drive on the left side of the road.

If you don’t want to do the driving in Scotland, a privately guided tour or guided small group tour is a great option to travel with a friendly local driver-guide and learn more about Scottish culture, Scottish food and more. Worried about a language barrier? Relax! There is not a substantial difference of English in India and Scotland, although the Scottish accent and slang words will likely be different than what you are used to.

TRIPS TO SCOTLAND FROM INDIA FOR SPECIAL OCCASIONS

Want to add a few personal touches to your Scotland holiday from India? Nordic Visitor’s Scotland tour packages can be tailored by our local experts with extra nights at select locations, arrivals or departures in alternative Scottish cities, day tours in Edinburgh, and more. We can even a tailor an itinerary to a special occasion, such as Scotland honeymoon packages from India. You’ll have your very own dedicated Nordic Visitor travel consultant to advise you about modifications for your tour.

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN A SCOTLAND HOLIDAY PACKAGE FROM INDIA

Each Nordic Visitor tour package in Scotland includes comfortable, hand-picked accommodations with daily breakfast along with a personalised itinerary and Scotland travel guide booklet. If you book a self-drive tour, you will have your choice of rental car and everything else you need for a stress-free road trip, including a hand-marked map of Scotland and our own 24/7 helpline. As for our guided small group tours, they include some group dinners as well as entrance fees to scheduled attractions.

WHAT TO SEE ON SCOTLAND TOURS FROM INDIA

There are many routes from Edinburgh that you could follow to see Scotland’s top attractions depending on the attractions you wish to see, your length of stay and the pace of your travel. Below are some popular Scotland trip ideas by number of days.

Under a week: For most Scotland trips from India, the Scottish Highlands are the main attraction. If this beautiful wilderness area is on your must-see list, give yourself at least 4 - 5 days to see the most famous Highland sights with overnights in the Inverness, Fort William or Loch Lomond areas. Want to visit some islands? Then plan to spend at least 6 days to travel from Edinburgh through the Highlands and to either the Isle of Skye or the Oban and Isle of Mull area. On this express route of Scotland, you can visit breathtaking attractions such as Loch Ness, the picturesque Glen Coe and Eilean Donan Castle.

1 - 2 weeks: To get the classic Scottish experience on your Scotland trip from India, we recommend travelling in the country for about 10 days. With this much time you can take a journey alongside Scotland’s beautiful east coast to the city of St Andrews and the “Castle Trail” region of Aberdeenshire before heading into the Highlands and onwards. In 12 days or more you can also visit the Orkney Islands and drive along the scenic North Coast 500 route or travel even further to the quiet islands of Harris and Lewis in the Outer Hebrides.

2 - 3 weeks: In 17 - 21 days you can do the ultimate road trip of Scotland, including the east coast, Highlands and many of the major islands -- even the far-flung Shetland Isles, the northernmost point of Scotland and all of Britain.

Absolutely love working with Nordic Visitor!

I have already traveled twice with Nordic Visitor, and am already in the process of booking a third trip! Absolutely love working with you! Every bed and breakfast we stayed at was amazing. The hosts were so welcoming with great suggestions of things to do and places to eat. The rooms were very comfortable, and the amenities were awesome!

Paul,

Scottish Highlands & Isle of Skye, September 2020

The best holidays we have ever had!

Superb!! Our first ever 'touring' holiday and right up there with the best holidays we have ever had. We are not youngsters, so this was taken on with a bit of trepidation, but were soon put at ease by the sheer quality of accommodation provided along with the superb travel itinerary book (yes, it's that thick and detailed) and map. Even though we often used local recommendations, these became our trusted companions throughout the week - and are now valued reminders of an exceptional holiday - Thankyou Nordic Visitor, we will be back!

Crystal, United States

Classic Scotland & The Orkney islands, September 2019

Wonderful experience!

Thank you so much! Our experience in Scotland was wonderful! We felt prepared for what to expect, particularly as it relates to making dinner reservations on the islands we visited. The food recommendations were excellent , the accommodations were cozy, and the recommendations for sites and attractions greatly appreciated. A special thank you to Agne who answered all my inquiries, helped us make dinner reservations and confirmed all our dates and meeting times - she was a pleasure to work with!

David,

Classic Scotland, September 2020

Excellent trip

All accommodations were excellent with very friendly hosts. Car rental pickup was very quick and easy and car was excellent. Rebecca was excellent, she took all our requirements and made a personal tour for us. Her attention to detail was excellent. The documents at our first hotel were excellent especially the map with everything marked on for us.

David

Scottish Highlands & Isle of Skye, June 2019

A positive experience, beginning to end!

This tour was a positive experience for us, beginning to end. The planning by Nordic Visitor was complete, thoughtful, and worked flawlessly. Scotland was stunning and most interesting - we just wish we had more time. To Nordic Visitor: Great Job! We'll be back!

Gary, Canada

Scottish Highlands & Isle of Skye - Winter, November 2019

The accommodations, destinations and car were great!

The tour went very well. All the accommodation was excellent. We are very pleased with all the arrangements and communications that we had with Rebecca. The accommodations, destinations and car were great. Our only wish is that we would have had more time at some of the locations. We had a hard time packing it all in!

Jennifer

Express Scotland, July 2019

Nothing but great words to say about Nordic Visitor!

We were thrilled with all of our accommodations. All hosts/hostesses were very friendly and we felt very welcomed. The rental car service was also very good and thorough. And we felt as though everyone had a good working relationship as the businesses had nothing but great words to say about Nordic Visitor so we felt good that everyone was working together to make our visit a great one!

Research Your Holiday

Start preparing for your trip by doing some research before your Scottish adventure.

Flights to Scotland from India

The two major international airports in Scotland are in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, and in Edinburgh, the usual starting point for Nordic Visitor tours. Trips to Scotland from India typically involve one or two connecting flights, usually at major airports such as London Heathrow. Some of the largest airlines with 1-stop flights from India to Scotland include (but are not limited to) British Airways, Emirates and KLM. We recommend checking with the airlines for flight availability and timetables. Flights are not included in Nordic Visitor packages.

The distance between Scotland and India is roughly 7,692 km (4,780 miles) thus the India to Scotland flight time can be lengthy with the airport layovers. To give you an estimate, a British Airways flight from Mumbai to Edinburgh can take from 13 hours or longer, depending on the duration of the connection in London. As the time difference between Scotland and India (Mumbai) is 5 hours, we at Nordic Visitor highly recommend adding an extra day to the start of your tour Scotland trip package from India.

Whether you travel independently or with a guide in your Nordic Visitor package, you will receive personalised service from a designated travel consultant and high-quality travel documents. What's more, all self-drive clients receive a hand-marked map that outlines the driving route, overnights and highlights along the way.
